What is ISSMA Solo?

The ISSMA Solo is a competition where you get to show of your talent! The ISSMA Gold, Silver and Bronze awards are based on how well you performed your individual piece of music. You only compete against yourself. ISSMA offers competition levels from beginner musician to collegiate level musician. Solos are for all band students in grades 6th-12th.

What is ISSMA Ensemble?

The Ensemble competition are for small groups of 3+ musicians. Just like in Solo, you are judged on how well the group performs in their specific music. Ensembles are for students in grades 7th-12th.

MASTERCLASS

Masterclass is held before the the recitals and ISSMA. To help prepare for the ISSSMA competitions we offer instrument specific Masterclasses taught by the best professional musicians in the Louisville Area.

Recitals

Recitals are held before ISSMA and after Masterclass. Recitals will be held for all student musicians in grades 6th – 12th.

NEW* 2017: The CHS Recital will be held in the beautiful “Inn on Main” in Charlestown. This is one of the oldest homes in Charlestown and newly renovated. The main room is stunning with large ceilings, fireplace, and a baby grand Yamaha piano. The acoustics are fantastic and will be a great experience for all of our High School musicians! The Band Boosters will be working hard to make this an extra special event for all of the students, friends, and family members.

NEW* 2017: The Charlestown Middle School recitals will be held in the auditorium at Charlestown Middle School. Each grade will be given an evening for performances.
